LEVELS OF ENDOTHELIN-1 IN THIRD TRIMESTER PREGNANT WOMEN WITH GESTATIONAL HYPERTENSION

Abstract

Gestational hypertension is the second largest cause of maternal mortality (MMR) in Indonesia, where endothelial function is increased, namely endothelin-1 (ET-1).The purpose of this study was to determine ET-1 levels in normal pregnancy and gestational hypertension. A total sample of 40 third trimester pregnant women taken with Purposive sampling techniques divided into 20 pregnant women with normal pregnancy and 20 pregnant women with gestational hypertension were taken as much as 3 mL of blood samples, then below to the Hasanuddin University Hospital Laboratory for examination of ET-1 uses the Human Endothelin-1 ELISA Kit. Data analysis used the Mann Whitney U test, the results showed no significant difference between ET-1 levels in third trimester pregnant women with normal pregnancy and gestational hypertension, p=0.372 (p> 0.05), where ET-1 levels were higher in normal pregnancy.
